Certificate in Kuchipudi Dance​

Duration: One Year (2 semesters per year) .

Required Hours: 135 Hours.
Required Units: A total of 3 courses (2 core mandatory and 1 elective).

This program does not require internship or externship.

The main objective of the Certificate Program is to initiate students to the sublime art form, the Indian classical dance Kuchipudi. This program will cover the fundamentals of dance, both in theoretical and practical ways, that create and develop awareness and appreciation for the Kuchipudi dance form.

Admission Requirements

  • A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • Practical dance experience of at least 2 years, which will be determined by University Faculty screening or assessment.

Required Core Courses

  • 101: Glimpses of Indian Dance Treatises on Nritya and Natya – 3 credit units
  • 102: Practical Dance – 3 credit units

Elective Courses

  • 202: The Spiritual aspects of Indian Dance – 3 credit units

Evaluation

The evaluation has the following components:

  • Course Exam
  • Assignments
  • Quizzes

Students will be awarded a Certificate in Kuchipudi on their successful completion of all the required courses, with an overall combined GPA of 2.0, based on the evaluation weightages across the various methods/metrics.

Estimated Program Costs: $3,000.00 including Tuition fee of $2,700.00, Application Fee, Books, Registration Fees, etc.
