This program does not require internship or externship. The educational programs offered does not lead to a profession, occupation, trade, or career field requiring licensure in this state.

Admission Requirements

  • A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • Practical dance experience of at least 2 years, which will be determined by University Faculty screening or assessment.

Program Curriculum

  • CBN 101: Introduction to Indian Dance Treatises in the context of Bharatanatyam – 3 units
  • CBN 102: Practical Dance – 3 units
  • CBN 201: The Evolution and Various Forms of Indian Classical Dance – 3 units

Evaluation

A student enrolled in the certificate program is evaluated using the following methods/metrics:

  • Final exam at the end of each course
  • Midterm exam in the middle of a course
  • Assignments
  • Quizzes

Students will be awarded a Certificate in Bharatanatyam on their successful completion of all the required courses, with an overall combined GPA of 2.0, based on the evaluation weightages across the various methods/metrics.
