Duration: One year program (2 semesters per year)

Required Hours: A total of 255 hours.

Required Units: A total of 5 courses (5 core mandatory course)

This program does not require internship or externship.

The Diploma program seeks to instill detailed learning of both practical and theoretical application to understand the musicology around which the Carnatic music revolves. This program enables the students to understand classical music with all its essentialities.

Admission Requirements

  • A high school diploma or GED is required
  • Practical music experience of at least 4 years, which will be determined by University Faculty screening or assessment.

Five Core Courses

  • DCM 301: Advanced Theory – 1 (Unit value – 3 credit units)
  • DCM 302: Advanced Theory – 2 (Unit value – 3 credit units)
  • DCM 303: Manodharma Sangitam (Unit value – 3 credit units)
  • DCM 304: Musical Compositions (Unit value – 3 credit units)
  • DCM 305: Ghana raga Pancharatnas (Unit value – 3 credit units)

Evaluation

The evaluation has the following components:

  • Final exams at the end of each course

Students will be awarded a degree in Diploma in Carnatic Music, on their successful completion of all the required courses, with a GPA of 2.0 or higher based on the evaluation weightages across the various methods/metrics.

Estimated Program Costs: $6,000.00 including Tuition fee of $5,400.00, Application Fee, Books, Registration Fees, etc.
